Multifamily Green Property Management Training

PAST Date: February 6 – 9, 2012 (plus 1/2 day optional exam on February 10th)

Location: Washington Inn Hotel, 495 10th Street, Oakland, CA

Cost: $1,200 – scholarships available for Alameda County properties. See eligibility requirements below.

This training prepares multifamily building operators and managers to make effective decisions to improve energy and environmental performance through building upgrades and ongoing operational practices. The training covers technical content on:

  • Incentive Programs & Professional Certifications
  • Green Building Principles & Practices
  • Energy Efficient Operations
  • Green Maintenance as it applies to unit turn-over, product specifications, capital needs assessments, on-site recycling, utility bill tracking and exterior landscapes.

The training prepares participants to pursue the following professional certifications:

Scholarships

Scholarships for training participation will be provided for qualified individuals through Energy Upgrade California in Alameda County.  Scholarship criteria includes: Asset and property management, superintendants, maintenance, service providers, and vendors employed by an organization or managing property located in Alameda County.   Preference for minimum of 2 years employment in management services. Questions about eligibility may be submitted to multifamily@stopwaste.org.

BPI Certification

* The BPI Multifamily Energy Efficient Building Operator certification is a nationally recognized certification that enables building operators, property managers and other building professionals to stand out amongst their peers. The Certification demonstrates conceptual understanding of building performance science and the relationship between all of the various building systems and its effect on occupant health, safety and comfort, energy efficiency and durability. The certification requires proctored written and field exams, which will be offered as an option in conjunction with this training for those who wish to pay for and pursue BPI professional certification. The exam fees are $550 per person for both components of the exam, and are NOT covered by the scholarship or $1,200 training fee. The written exam will be available on the last day (February 10th). The field exam will be arranged for a later date and location, depending on the number of participants. If you are interested in the BPI certification exams, please indicate so during registration, and the exam proctors will follow up to coordinate the exams and payment.

California Multifamily Existing Building Training

PAST: January 23-28, 2012 Oakland, CA

The California Multifamily Existing Building training equips you with the skills necessary to be the verification agent for many of the state’s existing multifamily building programs. Content includes a multifamily specific supplement to HERS II curriculum.  Participants can take professional certification exams for GreenPoint Rater – Existing Home Multifamily and Building Performance Institute Multifamily Building Analyst (BPI MF BA).

Are you eligible for the Professional Certifications from this Training?

GreenPoint Rater Certification: Complete  the prerequisite courses: Certified Green Building Professional Training and GreenPoint Rated Core  and meet eligibility requirements to be eligible for GreenPoint Rater certification. If you have never taken these or equivalent green building trainings, take them now so you’ll be ready in January. Read more about Multifamily Certifications eligibility requirements.

BPI MF BA certification: There are no prerequisites to take the BPI MF BA exam at the end of the training for certification.

California Multifamily Green Property Needs Assessments Webinar

This free training equips design and construction professionals with the skills necessary to conduct Property Needs Assessments/Capital Needs Assessments (PNA) on affordable housing projects. PNA’s are required for various affordable housing funding sources to identify the ongoing capital replacement budget for existing buildings. Registration will be available at www.builditgreen.org
